Poor leadership and coordination by a leader is likely to lead to a groups downfall. The inp ut by each member is also essential and all members should be committed towards realizing the set objectives. Aside bad leadership, individual members can also contribute to the groups downfall. The need for individual members to cooperate cannot be overemphasized. A student fulfills several roles in groups. In each student group, it is essential to have a leader, monitor evaluator /advice seeker, secretary/summarizer, and resource investigator/observer. The leader sets the pace for work and guides the group until the project is complete. He/she also oversees the individual contribution of members. The leader motivates members and ensures that everyone is on the right track. A monitor evaluator asks questions and seeks guidance from the instructor. This is after the group encounters some obstacle that cannot be resolved by members. This member familiarizes the members with solutions and any emerging information. The secretary compiles a report of the work completed by the group at each stage. Extensive research for the project should be conducted by the resource investigator/observer. He/she is also charged with availing all resources for the project and ensuring that all borrowed material such as books is returned (APH, 2007).
